The print is an illustration from Jules Verne's short story, "Dr. Ox's Experiment" (1872), drawn by Lorenz Frølich. The illustration depicts a scene with three figures, identified by the caption as "THERON SAVILLE AND HIS WIFE." The man on the left, Theron Saville, is holding a candle and stands in a doorway. Two women are standing near him, one of whom is his wife. The style is a detailed black and white engraving. Also included is the tissue paper covering with a brief description of the scene.
This is an original, not a reproduction. It came from a destroyed 1st edition book published in 1892 by Selmar Hess called Character Sketches of Romance Fiction and Drama. There is some damage, aging to the bound side of the print. All prints are either wood engravings, etchings, photogravure, or typogravure.
