Antique Print, Snake Print, Monkey Print, Harrison Weir Print, Vintage Print, Book Page, Harrison Weir Engraving, Beyond Help, Death (B998)
I found this print stuffed in the pages of a 1920s dictionary. It is 2 sided. I think it may be from a children’s book? One side titled, The Playmates, has a sweet boy and a family dog napping. Somebody wrote 1885 in pencil in the margin. The other side titled, Beyond Help, is a chilling illustration by Harrison Weir, one of my favorite animal illustrators. A terrified monkey is being strangled by an enormous snake while the rest of his family watches helplessly.
It has a 5” rip through the center and its missing a corner. There is also some dark smudges at the bottom. Once Framed the imperfections wont be so bad.
8” x 6.5”
