These two antique prints are sold as a set. The print of the man on the right depicts the character Ichabod Crane from Washington Irving's story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". The illustration is attributed to Edwin Austin Abbey. The print on the left is of the character Katrina Van Tassel, also from "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".
 Katrina Van Tassel, is shown seated on a wooden bench. She is wearing a red dress with white trim and a blue quilted underskirt, along with a white bonnet. She is holding knitting needles and a white yarn. The scene appears to be an interior space, possibly a rustic home. A brick wall is visible on the left, and a wooden wall or partition is on the right. A simple wooden bench with a cushion is where she is seated.
Details: On the floor, there is a brown jug and three apples. A fireplace tool is hanging on the brick wall. 
The other print depicts the tall, lanky Ichabod Crane with a long nose and a prominent chin, dressed in an old-fashioned green suit with teal stockings and black shoes. He is holding a hat in his left hand and appears to be in a doorway, with his right hand on the door frame.
Also included is the tissue paper covering with a brief description of the scene.
This is an original,  not a reproduction. It came from a destroyed 1st edition book published in 1892 by Selmar Hess called Character Sketches of Romance Fiction and Drama. There is some damage, aging to the bound side of the print. All prints are either wood engravings, etchings, photogravure, or typogravure.
