The artwork depicts "Lantenac at the Stone Pillar". It was produced using lithography. The print features a male figure, identified as Lantenac, standing next to a stone pillar, set against a backdrop of a cloudy or stormy sky. The figure is dressed in period clothing, including a long coat and kilt-like garment, and is holding an object under one arm. The overall style is characteristic of late 19th or early 20th-century book illustrations, with detailed linework and a strong sense of atmosphere. 

Also included is the tissue paper covering with a brief description of the scene. 
This is an original,  not a reproduction. It came from a destroyed 1st edition book published in 1892 by Selmar Hess called Character Sketches of Romance Fiction and Drama. There is some damage, aging to the bound side of the print. All prints are either wood engravings, etchings, photogravure, or typogravure.
