***Reimbursement will be issued at time of shipping***This antique print depicts Bill Sikes, a character from Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist, and his dog, Bull's-eye.
Bill Sykes is a rugged and sinister-looking man, dressed in a coat, waistcoat, and breeches, reflecting his criminal nature. He wears a top hat and holds a stick, adding to his menacing appearance. He is seated on a stool or simple chair in a sparsely furnished room or corner.
His faithful dog, Bull's-eye, sits beside him, looking somewhat dejected or wary, embodying the unwavering loyalty between them despite Sykes's cruel disposition. Also included is the tissue paper covering with a brief description of the scene.
This is an original, not a reproduction. It came from a destroyed 1st edition book published in 1892 by Selmar Hess called Character Sketches of Romance Fiction and Drama. There is some damage, aging to the bound side of the print. All prints are either wood engravings, etchings, photogravure, or typogravure.
