****Here is an antique photogravure titled "ELECTRA."
It depicts a young woman, identified as Electra from Greek mythology, seated in a pose of contemplation or sorrow. She has long, dark, disheveled hair, and is dressed in a flowing, light-colored classical gown. She is seated with her legs drawn up, leaning slightly forward, and her hands clasped in front of her. Her expression appears somber and reflective, with her gaze directed forward. She is positioned on a stone step or platform, possibly part of a tomb or monument, suggested by the classical architecture visible behind her to the left. The background is dark and shadowy, with hints of foliage or trees suggesting an outdoor setting, potentially a burial ground or sacred space. The image has a detailed, almost photographic quality, typical of engravings or photogravures from the late 19th century, specifically noted as being after a painting by Emil Teschendorff and published in 1892.
Also included is the tissue paper covering with a brief description of the scene.
This is an original, not a reproduction. It came from a destroyed 1st edition book published in 1892 by Selmar Hess called Character Sketches of Romance Fiction and Drama. There is some damage, aging to the bound side of the print. All prints are either wood engravings, etchings, photogravure, or typogravure.
Approx Size - 11.5"x 9"
