This is a cutting from an old magazine probably from the 1950s. I do not know what this is advertising or if it is an illustration for a short story.
The image speaks to me deeply. As a mother who has had a miscarriage, I can see the pain and despair in the woman's face. She is clinging to those pink booties. Her lips are red and her hair is still perfect. Her husband is trying to console her.
Or maybe he is trying to show her the new Maytag dishwasher in the kitchen.
Or maybe she is upset because her jello mold sunk and the dinner party is ruined!
It could be an ad for lipstick, beauty cream or nail clippers. Who knows. It is open to interpretation. Regardless, it is a lovely piece of art that would look amazing framed.
