Vintage Black Cat Candle Holders, 1950s Japan Cat Figurines, Redware Cats, Ceramic Figurines (DE-A170)
Here is a pair of vintage ceramic black cat taper candle holders, made of redware pottery in Japan, dating back to the 1950s or 60s. They are characterized by their glossy black finish and red painted details on their mouths and paws. They were designed to wrap around a taper candle. Or in my office, I use them to hold fat magic markers.
They add a sense of kitsch and charm, reflecting the mid century aesthetic.
Condition is very good. Glaze is very nice. I see no cracks or chips.
